Cape Hallett is found on the northern end of the Hallett Peninsula in the Ross Sea. It is a snow-free oasis and home to a large Adelie penguin colony. The range of diverse plant life and unique animals found in the area allowed the cape to be protected under the Antarctic Treaty System and it is now an Antarctic Specially Protected Area.
