This geographical landmark's name translates to "Cape Wish", and it serves as the separation point between the Barents Sea and the Kara Sea. The cape is covered in ice most of the year due to the freezing Arctic winters. During World War II, it held a Soviet station, and during the Cold War, it became an experimental station for the Soviets to conduct nuclear tests. It was converted into a weather station after the Cold War, which became automated in 2005. Since then the land has remained uninhabited.
